We need to educate Julius Malema

03 Jul

The President of ANCYL, Julius Sello Malema.

He rose into prominence for the first time when he became the President of the ANCYL (African National Congress Youth League). The position that made him a prominent member of the political landscape and the most favoured subject in comedies, satires and all those things that makes one giggle. A man in question is Julius Malema. He is not a stranger to you, is he?

At the 24th elective conference of the ANCYL, Julius Malema emerged victorious unopposed. His victory means nothing, other than another three years as the president of those under the age of 35. Jujuboy as he is affectionately known, by virtue of his leadership title commands power, which in turn he seems to be abusing. He threatens the ruling elite and asks them whether they know who he is [sic].

With no further rumble, let me put it on record that I have nothing against Julius Malema, his entourages, and his sparkly bright ambitions of economically liberating the children of the working class, many of whom are hopeless black youth. However, it must be noted that since he is my president, his opinions and intentions on economic policies matters very much to me and I hope it does to you too. I therefore, suggest that Mr Malema needs to put his brain in gear before his mouth is in motion, when matters on economic policy framework are of concern.

I write this post after realising that Mr Malema does not really understand the aftermath of nationalisation and expropriation of land without compensation – two of the economic policies that he is gunning for in order to liberate the black youth of South Africa. At least he hopes so!!!

By listening to his speeches, commentary and other materials that express his opinion, you will gather that in addition to his top calibre leadership qualities, our youth president needs something that will alter his thinking for the better. He needs help – of a fundamental nature for that matter!

Let me tell you something. In my arrogant opinion I believe that Julius needs to be educated- not a bachelor type of study – but the type of education that will empower him to be a critical thinker, a thought leader. Let me reaffirm that in no way am I undermining the good work of Julius in the ANC, his importance in this country and I know for a fact that in Jujuboy (to be affectionate) lies a potentially good leader.

I humbly request those who hold power in academia to educate Julius Malema on issues ranging from economics, public policy, and capacity building & social cohesion. Those in academia must help educate Julius as soon as possible before he runs South Africa into a banana republic.

South Africa, we need to educate Julius Malema as a matter of urgency. Should he be educated, the academic responsible for his education deserves the national order or any highest award that the country can confer on its citizens for he would have solved problem that might have arisen from Malemarrogance (To coin a new word). Such an education will empower Malema to understand basic economics, the effect of every proposed public policy, the role that social cohesion plays in a racially-polarised country like South Africa and the added benefits that comes with it.

I say without hiding and holding my breath, that whenever I am bored I play some of Malema’s audio and video playback. I mean the guy is brilliant, controversial, and funny-but at this stage Julius Malema needs an education – of what sort, I don’t know-he needs an education nonetheless.

About Dumi-rocks

Grew up in a village and maybe it might irk your imagination that I went to a rather ill-resourced school. Despite all that I saw my ambition and drive journeying me to one of the most prestigious and highly respected University in the country, the University of Stellenbosch. Not only is it a leading academic centre of learning, but it offered itself to be my knowledge partner. With that, let me introduce myself. I am a young, dynamic and energetic student. I am in my final year of study and I would like to have a career in Auditing. I am actively involved in my academic career, first as a student, secondly as a student leader and perhaps lastly as a community development leader. Community, youth and leadership development are close to my heart. I am inspired by the idea of being an agent for social change. Leadership and community development is so central to me that I completed a six months credit bearing course in Leadership and Community Interaction at the University of Stellenbosch. Oh, well at the beginning of 2012, myself and other four former school mates convened and identified a need for education upliftment project in our community. To address that social-ill we started a foundation that will deal with educational disparities, leadership and entrepreneurial development, career guidance and public speaking. I most value education, Social responsible leadership and a pursuit for Justice, peace and reconciliation. My type of South Africa is one that is economically liberated and crime free. In most cases, if not in all, I autograph my work with enthusiasm, excellence and impeccable integrity.

I agree with you 100% . you know the saying ” you can take a donkey to the river but you cannot make it drink ” I feel like you can teach julius malema all you want but you can only hope that he puts the teachings in practice . judging from his past actions it seems to me that this guy does not like being told what to do or that he is wrong .

Thanks Shelby, I cannot say much about him anymore. I do not like it when he says he is protecting the children of the working class.

      Call again!!
